Oh Wednesdays....

Today is Wednesday.  I hate Wednesday's.  I only hate them because I have to go to class from 10-1:30 and then work until midnight following.  I know this will change after October passes, but that just seems so far away.  I'm just really not used to this schedule.  I like my Monday's at work much more.  Maybe I'm just a creature of habit?

Well whatever.  I promised a picture today- of my new silkscreen project, which is the final black and white version, though I think our next project, we can use color and the same screen if we want, which I do.  So this might not be the last version of this print that you'll see.

I hope you enjoy.... :)

yep.

today was exhausting.

my classes are driving me insane, and even though I'm looking pretty good for all of my assignments, I'm feeling like I'm missing something.  There's just too much to keep track of at once and I need to get back in focus.  I went through my planner today and double and triple checked everything, but I know there's stuff I'm forgetting and other stuff that I have to get done but remains on the back burner while I finish the high priority items.

tomorrow is going to be exhausting.

and thursday as well.  :(

i finished my silkscreen print today- bonus.  i'm too tired right now or i would add a picture.  perhaps I'll do so tomorrow.

bedtime, i think.

Needles are fun!

And by needles, I hope you understand that I mean crochet or knitting needles.  I've been knitting for a couple of years now, and have recently started crocheting.  Here is my most recent accomplishment, which is a fun scarf for my daughter for winter.  She picked the yarn, and I picked this fun zig-zag pattern (which was actually meant for a blanket).

Isn't it fun?  I wish the color had come out better on this, but it was taken by my phone, so I can't complain too much.  I guess if I want a really good photo, I should use the really good camera, huh?

A Day in the Life, I guess

So, for some unknown reason, I have decided that it is necessary for me to have a blog. An official one, in which I'll include whatever information I have to share.  Hopefully you know me, which is why you're reading this, so I don't need to go into any sort of real elaborate hooplah that nobody really cares about anyway. Suffice it to say that I'm a Mom, first and foremost, and then I'm a wife, student, photographer, and generally a bomb-ass person. :D

As an artist and a general crafter, I indulge in many different things, and I'm just briefly going to share some of the things that I'm into, what I've done with it all, and all that jazz.  I'll post more as they're created, for sure.  :)

Primarily, I'm into Photography.  I'm currently pursuing a BFA in Photography at the University of Iowa and I'm set to graduate in May.  There's still a lot of work to be done in order to get there, but the goal is within sight now.  I just had a piece on display at the University for the Staff Art Show, seen here:

I'll also have stuff at the Studio Arts Open House in December, and then again in May, 2010.  I have a solo show for honors studies that will be held for the month of April, 2010, and my BFA show will be sometime in the Spring semester as well.

I also work with metals, designing jewelry, both hand crafted metal and beaded pieces.  My third focus with my BFA degree is in printmaking, and I've worked with Lithography, Monoprint, Intaglio, Linocuts, and Silkscreen (my favorite of all, I think).  I'm sure I'll post pics slowly throughout the blog.

As far as general craftiness, I sew, cross-stitch, knit and crochet, as well as scrapbooking, making small sculptures, and make paper and bind books.  Seeing as Christmas is coming soon, look for a lot of these small wonders to pop up to be gifted to wonderful people in my life.  :)

I think that's it for right now, I'll be posting more to come. :)
